PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds hits over 10 million copies sold
One of this year's biggest hits, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, has sold over 10 million copies through Steam's Early Access program.
After a somewhat surprise wave of popularity at launch, PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has seen continual success on Steam's Early Access program. Within less than 6 months on the market, the game's developer, Bluehole, has continued to refine its "Battle Royale" shooter formula, which has only been rewarded with a growing player base. Today, Bluehole has announced that the game has now clocked over 10 million sales, as of September 1, 2017.
PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds has continued to break records since release and today's milestone shows there are no signs of this slowing down. In recent weeks, the game even hit over 970,000 peak concurrent users, climbing to the top of Steam's most-played titles and surpassing the likes of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and Dota 2.
Vice President and Executive Producer for Bluehole, Chang Han Kim, attributed the recent surge of players to exposure at Gamescom 2017 – most notably the invitational tournament streamed live from the show.
It is amazing and gratifying to see the love and support the passionate fans have shown to PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS.
