Single-player games haven't been in their best state during recent years, with many publishers making the shift to "games as a service" business models. With always-online experiences, post-launch content roadmaps and microtransactions all common practices on Xbox One, games as we know them are changing.

This movement has also signaled the "death" of single-player games, with many publishers abandoning previously successful franchises in pursuit of today's trends. One Xbox gamer on our forums has noticed but thinks this is just a period lacking compelling titles rather than single-player titles disappearing for good.
