Electronic Arts debuts PC game streaming service at E3 2018
Electronic Arts is set to launch a new PC game streaming service later this summer.
While Electronic Arts' E3 2018 premise lays with the games themselves, a surprise announcement also came from its EA Play press conference. "Origin Access Premier" is a new game streaming service for PC gamers, as a premium version of its existing Origin Access plan. Although "not ready for prime time," the publisher currently promises a debut sometime this summer.
The publisher shared few details on the service and its capabilities, though hopes to distribute all "new PC games" through the service going forward. Anthem, Battlefield V, FIFA 19, and Madden 19 were all confirmed titles for the service, with access to the standard Origin Access library also under the subscription. Subscribers will also be able to play games ahead of launch through the service. This shares similar offerings to Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass, which provides access to over 100 titles and all future first-party releases on Xbox One.
No firm release date was provided for the service, though expect to hear more in the coming months.
