'Xbox Assist' troubleshooting hub receives major Fluent Design update on Xbox One

The Xbox One's inbuilt troubleshooting has been rebranded, alongside a set of new features and a fresh coat of paint.

Earlier this week, Xbox One owners began to get their hands on a new iteration of the console's operating system, prior to its public release this fall. Mostly focusing on visual enhancements, the new dashboard embraces Microsoft's Fluent Design System – a recently adopted design language that aims to add additional texture, depth, and motion to the user interface.

Following this update, it now appears that the "Xbox Help" app has received a significant overhaul for Xbox Insiders in the Alpha Ring, based on the same design philosophies of the OS itself. Seemingly rebranded under the name "Xbox Assist," the update completely reworks the layout and content of the app, with added functionality across the board.

The Xbox Assist now app serves more as a troubleshooting hub, offering both videos and written content. There also appears more of a dynamic element to the app, with in-depth Xbox Live service status and details on recent Xbox One OS updates.

Looking back at the existing Xbox Help interface shipped with the Creator's Update, it comes as no surprise that the app has been rebuilt from the ground up. The original app ended up mostly being an uninspired wall of text, simply bringing together brief troubleshooting articles into a single location.
